PA Wellington Parliament began its sitting later than usual yesterday, at 7.30 p.m.. setting aside its afternoon session for select committees to catch up on their work.

When the House sat. it received advice from the Governor-General. Sir David Beattie, that Royal Assent had been given to the Invercargill City Council Vesting and Empowering Act. 1982.

Ministers answered 14 questions. ’ The Vocational Training Council Bill, with amendments, was reported back from the Labour and Education Select Committee by Mr R. L. Bell (Nat.. Gisborne). The Higher Salaries Commission Amendment Bill and the Milk Amendment Bill were given second readings. The Dog Control Bill was also given a second reading, and the adjournment at 10.30 p.m. interrupted the second reading of the Family Benefits (Home Ownership) Amendment Bill.
