Stallion fees reduced
In an effort to come to terms with the recession Captain Tim Rogers will reduce fees by an average of 30 per cent for stallions at his famous Airlie Stud in Ireland in 1983.
Captain Rogers, who also has extensive interests in New Zealand, believes that at present 65 to 70 per cent of all mare owners in Ireland are producing below cost.
The Arabs, he said, had given a false impression of the market as they caused the top end of the market to take such a leap that the average did not reflect the bulk of the deals.
“Also, it will not be long before the Arabs will have enough breeding stock to concentrate basically on selfproduction," Captain Rogers said recently.
