“Not the 9 O’Clock News”
Sir,—How joyous and wonderful it is again to be able to sit in front of the television set and watch the repeat screening of “Not the 9 O’Clock News." For years we have had to put .up with mundane viewing, but “Not the 9 O’Clock News" continuously opens up insight into the human perspective. This programme explores the absurd aspects of life that worry so many people, yet it pokes fun in areas of life that cause most people to run away from. When New Zealand humour finally reaches the standard as depicted in “Not the 9 O’Clock News” then we can say that this nation of ours has truly come of age. Till then, let's hope that these repeats will continue unabated, until eternity—Yours, etc., PETER W. KENNEDY. October 21, 1982.
