Butter quota delay

NZPA staff correspondent ■ London

The E.E.C. has delayed final approval of the 1983 New Zealand butter quota and averted a clash over the issue at this week’s E.E.C. council meetings in Luxemburg.

The proposed quota of 87.000 tonnes. 5000 less than this year’s, was expected to go before the E.E.C. council for approval after Agriculture Ministers agreed to it in principle last week.

But it was not on the agenda for the Fisheries Council or Foreign Affairs Council which are meeting this week.

“It is not on the agenda and is not likely to be discussed this week." said a British delegation spokesman.
