Peter Cook injured
NZPA-Reuter Sydney The top Sydney jockey, Peter Cook, was taken to Liverpool Hospital for Xrays yesterday after a fall from Bellini at Warwick Farm.
Cook was being checked at the hospital for neck, leg and chest inuries after the 9-4 favourite, Bellini, fell at the 200 metre mark in the Camden Welter (1600 m
He was conscious and complained of chest pains as ambulancemen worked on him as he lay on the track.
Cook was to ride the Tommy Smith-trained Just A Dash in Saturday’s L. K. S. MacKinnon Stakes at Flemington and in the $310,000 Melbourne Cup (3200 m at Flemington on Tuesday. ■ Cook is Australia’s jockey of the moment after his devastating ride to boot home the champion, Kingston Town, to a third successive W. S. Cox Plate victory at Moonee Valley last Saturday.
