$25,000 grant boost for Chch foundation
A $25,000 donation to the new - Christchurch Catholic Diocesan Foundation heads the list of grants worth $76,000 recently made by the Maurice Carter Charitable Trust. Catholics launched the foundation last month to raise $1.25 million during the next five years towards the diocese’s religious, charitable and educational activities. Other grants went to: Anglican Social Services, $2000; Barnardos N.Z. Christchurch, $500; Boys’ Brigade Canterbury (Waipara Camp), $5000; Canterbury Girl Guides Association, $500; Canterbury Aged People’s Welfare Council, $500; Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, $8000; Catholic Social Services, $8000; Christchurch Children's Holiday Camp Trust.
$1000; Christchurch Children's Homes Appeal Trust. $500; Christchurch Household Budget and Advisory Service, $500; Christchurch Methodist Central Mission, $2000; Christchurch National Marae, $10,000: Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. $500; Home and Family Society, $500; Hornby Community Care Centre, $500: Mayor’s Welfare Fund, $1000; Pregnancy Help, $500; Presbyterian Social Services Association, $2000; Prison Fellowship, $500; Regional Women’s Decade Committee. $500: Salvation Army, $2000; St. John Ambulance Youth Camp, $1000; Canterbury Youth Groups Promotion Council, $500; Youthwork, $2000; Workers’ Educational Association Canterbury, $lOOO.
