Couple with ‘athletes foot’ aren’t complaining . . .

PA Auckland Molly and Bill Bell, of Sandringham, have had “athletes foot” for 20 years. Everytime a noteworthy athlete visits their home, Mr Bell pours concrete and preserves the athlete’s foot impression. The couple then file it in their backvard as a paving stone. To date they have 72 impressions of athletes such as Peter Snell, Allison Roe, John Walker, Kip Keina, Max Telford, John Landy, Raelene Boyle, Vladmir Kuts, John Stratford, and Randy Thomas. Mr Bell, a plasterer, al-

ways has cement ready in case a famous athlete pays a visit. They started the collection 20 years ago when Gregory Peck’s son visited. Since then athletes from New’ Zealand and overseas telephone and ask if they can have their foot done. “Lorraine Moller and Ann Audain are the next two planned," said Mrs Bell. They will give the collection to the Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland. It will eventually be built into one of the new works planned at the stadium. “That way, they will be forever," Mrs Bell said.
