Seychelles 'plot’ link is denied
NZPA-Reuter Victoria Britain's high commissioner in the Seychelles, Mr Eric Young, has’denied that his Government was involved in. an alleged' plot to overthrow the Government of the Indian Ocean State. “The British Government would certainly not condone any attempt to undermine any established Government overseas," Mr Young told a Radio Seychelles reporter. British authorities "are certainly determined to discover whether anyone in the United Kingdom' is doing anything that is contrary to
British law." he said. Mr Young was commenting on a report in the “Sunday Times" newspaper, which said that the British police were investigating an alleged plot to overthrow the Seychelles Government. Two men died in a car bomb explosion on a deserted beach near Victoria last Wednesday. The Seychelles authorities have linked them to an opposition group based in London and South Africa. Reliable sources said that the Seychelles and British governments were in close contact over the matter.
