Remand in custody
A man charged with raping a woman in Christchurch on Friday was remanded in custody to October 28 when he appeared before Judge Fogarty in the District Court yesterday. He is Russell Warren Anderson, aged 23. a workman. Seeking bail, counsel, Mr
G. R. Lascelles, said Anderson had no previous convictions for sex offences. Bail was opposed by Sergeant G. G. Cleland, who said the police summary of facts suggested a “bizarre" attitude on the pc-rt of the defendant to the alleged offence and his behaviour du ing it.
