Drivers suspended
T. F. Thompson and B. J. Hamilton had their horsemens’ licences suspended up to and including November 1, after two incidents in the Tapui Handicap at the Akaroa Trotting Club's oncourse only betting meeting on Saturday. Thompson, who drove Gateau, was found to have caused interference to Sea Witch with 300 m to run; Hamilton, who drove Herrat, was suspended after causing interference to Sea Witch, with 200 m to run. Herrat, which finished fourth, was disqualified by the stipendiary stewards from his placing. Thompson’s suspension will prevent him from driving The Sting in the Kaikoura Cup on Monday. The Sting requires one more win to be eligible for the New Zealand Trotting Cup on November 9.
