Mr Colin Wood, a Cromwell builder, is surrounded by young admirers queueing for the chance to drive his miniature front-end loader, one of the mechanical scale models he has built for “Drive World,” the playground he is developing at Queen Elizabeth II Park, Christchurch. The idea for the project came from the fleet of giant earthmoving machines working on the Upper Clutha development. Mr Wood and his family will move next month to Christchurch to develop “Drive World” on a one-acre site.
