Brian Harris makes 95 for Belfast
Rain halted play early in the senior A match between Sumner and Belfast when round two of the Christchurch Suburban Cricket Association's competition began on Saturday.
Batting first, at Barnett Park. Belfast scored a creditable 185 against Sumner s steady bowling attack. Brian Harris scored a splendid 95. When rain stopped play just after 4 p.m., Sumner was 45 without loss. Ray Steele and Rot-don McLeod not out on 25 and 20 respectively.
When play finished about 4 p.m.. in another match. Hoon Hay was 165 for eight thanks mainly to an innings of 61 not out from John Neilson. Backing him up was Tony Clarke, who has just returned to Christchurch from Masterton. The best of the Woolston W.M.C. bowlers at that stage were Dave Quested, with four for 32. and Norm Sloan, with three for 43. In its match with Harewood, Upper Riccarton dominated with its batting display of 172 for three declared. Graham Gall was dismissed with his score on 73 and Dave Kennedy remained on 72 not out. In reply. Harewood was struggling at 45 for three.
Batting first at Bradford Park. Christchurch W.M.C. reached 170 after Jim Knowles 73. and Ron Provan 58. had scored 131. For Merivale-Papanui. Kevin
