Rangiora A. and P. Show results

Sunny skies drew a gooi crowd to the Northern Agricul tural and Pastoral show a Rangiora on Saturday. About 9000 people attendet and a full programme held theii interest in spite of a cold changt in the afternoon. Gate taking: were boosted to $7900, one of th( most successful returns for the association. Horse and sheep entries wen up slightly on those of 1981. but entries in the cattle section wen down. The ridden Welsh pony sectior was new. as was an art and craft section for children. Prime lambs rated highly considering the drought, said the section judge. Mr E. S. Inkster, of Darfieid. The lambs judged on the hoof at the show will be judged on the hook at a freezing works tomorrow. Jersey cattle were good quality entries but some of the drought-affected younger stock were of lighter condition, said the judge. Mr Neil Irwin, of Edendale. The top cattle beast over all was a Jersey. Horses turned “skittish” as high winds blew up during the grand parade, but the crowd enjoyed the spectacle of animals, competitors and machinery in the ring. Hot food stalls organised by the Rangiora Lions and sideshow attractions were also popular. CHAMPIONSHIPS Hacks.-Supreme champion. Miss P. J. Lamb. Havn. Ring one: Robyn Smith. champion. Taramiro.
