Gelignite in house
Police, a Labour Department explosives inspector, and the Army were investigating on Saturday a Ngaruawahia house where 10 sticks of unstable gelignite were found on Friday. The sticks were found about 6.30 p.m. under a derelict car on the property
by detectives who were making routine inquiries. The oozing gelignite was removed at 10 p.m., and the authorities on Saturday further searched the property. The explosives inspector and a police explosives dog were brought from
Auckland to check the Waingaro Road house. The police had said the house was unoccupied. but a woman was seen hanging out washing there on Saturday morning. A police spokesman said that all the explosives were recovered on Friday evening.
