Wales match keeps many up
About 16.000 television sets were on in the Christchurch area during the Maori All Blacks' match in Wales early yesterday morning according to an unofficial estimate from the Municipal Electricity Department's control room.
A number of drinking drivers had been stopped on their way home after the match, said Senior Traffic Officer R. J. Dallow.
“We had a full complement of officers on the road until the early hours. We detected more (drinking drivers) than we expected." said Mr Dallow.
He said that 53 drivers had been given breath screening tests in Christchurch since 4 p.m. on Friday.
