NZPA New Delhi The Indian Government is expected to come under fresh pressure to try to end Sikh unrest in the northern state of Punjab after rioting in New Delhi on Monday in which four Sikhs w’ere shot dead by the police. Hundreds of turbanned Sikh demonstrators, some of them wielding swords, ram-
paged through the streets outside the Parliament building. hurling stones and burning vehicles. The police said that they had opened fire as a last resort when the demonstrators had tried to storm Parliament. More than 50 police officers had been injured in the clashes, they said. Most of the demonstrators came from the rich farming state of Punjab.
