Cries for help ignored
PA Wellington A man who was stabbed 11 times in a Wellington street early Monday morning had a door slammed in his face when he knocked to seek help, the police said yesterday.
The man. Selwyn Dunn, stood bleeding and tried to ask for assistance, but could not speak properly because a stab wound had collapsed a lung, the police said.
He finally smashed a window in another house but left when the woman occupant screamed. He was eventually found by the police the woman had called.
A man, aged 37, has been charged with wounding Mr Dunn with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He will appear in court today.
