Minister thanks Navy

PA Wellington Britain's Minister of Defence. Mr John Nott, has personally thanked the Royal New Zealand Navy for helping the Royal Navy in the Indian Ocean, the Defence Department has said. Mr Nott visited H.M.N.Z.S. Waikato at Mombasa and personally conveyed the thanks of the British Government for the task being undertaken by the Royal New Zealand navy, according to a message received from the ship. The Waikato is on patrol in the Indian Ocian with H.M.S. Alacrity and R.F.A. Grey Rover. She is the second New Zealand frigate lent to the Royal Navy as a result of. the crisis in the Falklands.
