Fitch-fur farm in Otago formed
PA Dunedin A public company to operate a fitch-fur farm has been formed in Dunedin. Aorangi Furs, Ltd, a company formed in Dunedin, has bought a property at Hamilton Bay, skm north-east of Port Chalmers, on which the farm will be established. The chairman. Mr lan McMeeking. said that the initial breeding stock of 1000 female and 250 male fitch selected from the stock of
West Highland Furs will arrive in the country from Scotland in November. Mr Newman Burberry, the managing director of 'West Highland Furs, has been marketing fitch fur in international markets for some years, and is to be an advisor to the new company, he said. Dr Michael Godfrey, a specialist in wildlife management and ecology, has been appointed managing director.
