A man linked to an extortion letter against the makers of Extra-Strength. Tylenol after seven deaths from the cyanide-tainted drug may have been framed in a hoax by former employees. two Chicago newspapers reported. The letter, sent to McNeil Consumer Products Company, manufacturer of the top selling paia remedy, threatened a second wave of poisonings unless the company deposited SUSI million (SNZI.4 million) in an account at the Continental Illinois National Bank Trust Co., of Chicago.—Chicago. School bus crash A high school bus returning from a football game in Texas collided with a swerving sports car, careered off a bridge and plunged six metres, killing a teen-age girl passenger and injuring 40 others, said officials. The driver of the car was also killed. Witnesses said the car driver was weaving through heavy traffic on the Galveston Causeway bridge at the week-end when it slammed into the left side of the bus, then fell off the bridge into Galveston Bay—Galveston. Tunnel collapse Four people were killed and four others injured seriously when a subway tunnel collapsed at a Seoul construction site, said authorities. The accident, the third big one this year at subway construction sites in the capital city, occurred while a night-duty team was working in the middle of the 115metre long tunnel.—Seoul. Odd-sized problem Hundreds of people who suffer from odd-sized feet — a problem which makes buying shoes an expensive headache — are to be helped by a leading shoe store chain. Their “union" is the Stockport Odd Foot Association which handles inquiries from as far away as Canada and Australia. Now these people will be able to get a 20 per cent discount on two pairs of shoes bought at any one of the companv’s 250
branches throughout Britain—London. Anna Freud dies Anna Freud, daughter of the pioneer psychiatrist Sigmund Freud and an eminent psychoanalyst in her own right, has died at her London home at the age of 86, said her family; Dr Freud, who went to’ England from Vienna in 1938, was the director of the Hampstead Child Therapy Course and Clinic, and the author of many books on psychoanalysis, especially of children.—London. Tax evasion A prominent New York trade union leader has been convicted of labour racketeering and tax evasion, and of receiving SUSI6O.OOO in bribes. John Cody, aged 62. president of a Truck Drivers' Union, was convicted on seven of eight counts and faces a maximum of 32 years jail and SUSBO,OOO in fines. He is to be sentenced on November 12.—New York. Airmen sentenced Nine Kenyan airmen have been dismissed from the armed forces and sentenced by court martial to sentences ranging from between four and 21 years on mutiny charges arising from ah August 1 coup attempt, the official Kenyan News Agency reported. The military courts have now sentenced more than 150 people to jail, most of them junior airmen.Nairobi. Suspects detained Israeli police have detained two suspects in connection with the fire which destroyed Jerusalem’s Baptist Church, said Israel Radio. The church was destroyed on Friday, and .the police said that they suspected arson after traces of kerosene were found in the chapel. The radio said that the suspects were Jews, one of whom was a foreign citi-zen.-Tel Aviv.
