Boy, aged 9, abducted
The police were searching last evening for a boy, aged nine, who was abducted outside 35 Cleveland Street, St Albans, about 5.15 p.m. yesterday.
Ryan Stewart was playing with a friend when a man approached and forced him into a white van, which was driven away. . Ryan’s parents had a de facto relationship, and when it ended his mother was given legal custody. The father is Mr James Stewart, from whom the police would like to hear.
The police, said the incident was serious because they were unsure of a motive.
There had been no “buildup" to the abduction. “A man just turned up and grabbed him,” a police spokesman said.
