Jail term reduced
PA Nelson A three-year jail term imposed on a youth who assaulted a nun in Nelson earlier this year was reduced on appeal to Mr Justice Greig in the High Court at Nelson yesterday.
His Honour reduced Malcolm Chester Orr jun's term to 18 months after “the most anxious consideration.” . “I have come to the view that the District Court judge w T as influenced and over-in-fluenced by the circumstances of the complainant and that he did not ’give sufficient regard to the circumstances of the appellant and the mitigating factors put before him." he said. '
