Man stabbed in brawl
A man was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with stab wounds in the thigh, ribs, and face after a brawl outside the New Brighton Tavern after closing time on Thursday. One wound in Mr Donald Drummond’s thigh was 10cm deep, a police spokesman said.
Mr Drummond's condition was yesterday reported as satisfactory. The police were called to the fight in the New Brighton Mall about 11.20 p.m. About six men were involved. No arrest had been made but inquiries were continuing, the police said.
