Montessori conference
Twenty-six teachers and administrators from New Zealand’s eight Montessori pre-schools will hold their first annual conference this week-end, at Palmerston North. Its purpose was to shareinformation and teaching methods, said the conference organiser, Ms Charlotte Halifax. Whether to form a national
association would be discussed. Christchurch. Dunedin. Wellington. Kapiti, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, and Auckland have Montessori schools. They are based on the educational theories of Dr Maria Montessori which prescribe a learning method based on movement and the use of the five senses.
