Taiwan wins soccer
PA New Plymouth A two-goal burst in the eleventh and twelfth minutes gave the visiting Taiwanese women's soccer team a 2-0 win over the New Zealand women's team at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, yesterday.
The Taiwanese scored from the first real attack they mounted, with a move down the left which ended with Ma Hsiung netting. A minute later, the visitors split the New Zealand defence down the middle, and a perfect pass to the left wing. Huang, saw her score with ease.
New Zealand had only one scoring chance in the first half, but Marie George's shot was blocked. In the second spell. New Zealand attacked more, but twice Kathy Hill was foiled, with one shot going just over the bar.
