Near-miss probed
N.A.T.O. and the United States Sixth Fleet have started- an urgent inquiry as Italian airline pilots protested about the latest in a series of near-misses in the skies over southern Italy. Rome air traffic controllers ordered the pilot of an airliner flying to the southern city of Reggio Calabria to change course suddenly when an unidentified plane appeared on their radar screens, apparently on a collision course.—Rome.
