Record crowd at floral show
Record crowds attended the Horticultural Hall during the week-end to see the host of golden daffodils. Blooms were brought from as far as Hamilton and Invercargill and filled 1500 vases.
About 4500 people attended what was the combined South Island showing of the National Daffodil Society and the Canterbury Horticultural Society's spring exhibition. The show as a big success, with a crowd that had "the hall bulging at the seams," said the Canterbury society's secretary, Mr T. W. B. Clarke, yesterday. The premier bloom was the entry of S. Brogden, of Normanby. Taranaki.
