Gratitude
A PLEA for New Zealanders to observe a World Gratitude. Day has been taken up by a group of Christchurch people: The plea was made by Edna Fuerth Lemle, an American, who is establishing such’ a day in her own country. The day is , set aside whereby people express in some way their appreciation of the beauty and tranquil lifestyle we have compared with other countries such as. Lebanon. The Christchurch group observed World Gratitude Day on September 21 and gave S5O to the Christchurch City Mission. The ' group, made up of retired couples, meets weekly and : goes for. a walk together. The group intends to. observe World Gratitude Day next September>2l .and. hopes
otner .Christchurch groups will do the same.

RADIO-TELEPHONES have been in use in Christchurch .Transport Board buses for about 18 months. Besides adding to the security of drivers at night and helping eliminate costly delays and disruptions because of breakdowns, drivers have used the radio to notify the bus depot of many other happenings — call for police assistance when passenger interfering with child; call for police assistance as driver being attacked; call for ambulance because a passenger fell and was injured running to catch a bus; call for Ministry of Transport help because a car was driving slowly in -front of the bus and not,allowing it
to pass; request for police assistance because passengers were fighting;, and . a request for police help as the road was blocked by motorists fighting. Identity “MY HEART belongs to daddy” is a noted song of yesteryear. It was not referring io a father but to a sugar daddy. For one of our correspondents, a father, it has a new meaning. He heads his letter, “Re - Liberated Woman." and tells us that recently when he asked the ol<). endearing question to his three-year-old daughter. “Are you daddy’s girl?" she replied. "I love you daddy, but T belong to myself.” . ’ Round the bend
