Wolfenden’s return delayed

PA Auckland The top Auckland reinsman Peter Wolfenden will be unable to resume race-driv-ing for at least a month. wolfenden has been out of action since June 26 when he was injured in a race smash at Alexandra Park. Bones in his right foot were severely dislocated.

He had hoped he would receive a clearance to drive when, he returned to hospital on Tuesday for the foot to be X-rayed again. “But it was ‘no go’,” he said afterwards. “The X-ray showed the navicular bone had not completely mended. They told me to come back in another month's time.’’ Wolfenden.’ who has won the national drivers’ premiership 13 times, accepted the verdict philosophically. “It’s no use rushing it, if it is not 100 per cent,’’ he said.
