Mai Mai stands out at Gore

Special correspondent Invercargill Mai Mai will appreciate the sharp drop in class when he contests the Dillon Hall Four-Year-Old Stakes, the second leg of the T.A.B. double at the Gore Trotting Club's meeting today. The Nevele Holiday gelding. winner of the National Handicap at Addington last month. found handicap marks more than he could overcome in the Superstar Series on the same course, but the calibre of today’s opposition is decidedly weaker, and the small field will also be of assistance to the backmarker.

Only Trilobal may' be backed with any confidence to test Mai Mai. The talented half-brother to Trevira, won impressively at the Invercargill workouts last Sunday, but is in receipt of only 20 metres of Mai Mai.

The Dunedin-trained 10-year-old, Everton Adios. may beat an open field of C2 and faster trotters in the first leg, the Quadroon Stakes Handicap. This season’s leading reinsman. Bob Cameron, has an appealing book of drives at today's meeting, with Mai Mai and Garrymite, in particular, looking two of his better chances. In the absence of Peter Wolfenden, Cameron has an early lead on the premiership with 13 wins, and looks capable of extending his score further today.
