Sir,—ln reply to J’ F; Garvey (September 23), he has a' short memory. He forgets that not so long ago the National Party caucus was saying that its leadership was a- non-issue, and what happened when Mr Muldoon was out of the country on one of his never-ending trips overseas to borrow more millions, getting New Zealand more into debt? And what happened to those who did try to oust Muldoon? They are quiet now and Mr Rowling is a caring and dignified gentleman, which is what this country needs, and should have by right Long may Mr Rowling
reign as the leader of the Labour Party and the next Prime Minister of New Zealand. — Yours, etc., M. LEE. September 23, 1982.
