Palace penetrated
NZPA London Some of Britain’s crack S.A.S. troops have secretly broken into Buckingham Palace several times since new security was ordered for the Queen's safety, the “Express" newspaper has reported. Each time they entered and left without detection. On one of the visits, the S.A.S. troops took a trophy to prove they had penetrated the security. It had since been returned,
the newspaper reported. "Operation Break-in" — it took place five times — was ordered at Government level after Michael Fagan’s “visits.” The S.A.S. sorties did not. however, penetrate the new defences round the Royal apartments where an armed guard is on 24-hour duty. The new security plans put forward by Scotland Yard had not been fully implemented yet, the “Express” said. Fagan in court, page 9
