One male doctor attends conference
PA Auckland More than 500 women attended the New Zealand Women’s Health Network national conference which began in Auckland on Friday. The conference, which continued throughout the weekend, was organised by the network because it believes health professionals do not know enough about women's health care. One of the organisers, Ms Sarah Calvert, a psychologist, of Tauranga, said it
was disheartening to see so few health professionals at the session. She said the network had made a big effort to get male health professionals to attend. "But they are not interested to come along and listen to research being presented about their clients," she said. Only one male doctor had attended. However, she was pleased with the turn-out by women, among them doctors, social workers, and psychologists.
