Doctor decides Niven is alive
NZPA Hollywood The actor, David Niveni said yesterday that he was so worried by rumours of his death that he had asked his doctor about it. “and in his opinion,. I am not." Niven, aged 72. who lives in Sairit-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, between Nice and Monaco in the the south of France, issued a statement through a Hollywood spokesman. John Strauss, to counter the rumours. Earlier rumours, also denied, said that Niven had
suffered a speech-impairing stroke. “So many members of the press have been calling my house at all hours, asking if I were dead, that I became worried” Niven said. “I called my doctor to ask if by any chance I were. And in his opinion I am not." The Scottish actor' has appeared in more than 85 movies in a career that spans nearly 50 years. The films include a best actor Oscar for “Separate Tables.” in' 1958.
