Leaders 'horrified’
NZPA New York World leaders acted with horrified anger yesterday to the massacre of Palestinian refugees in Beirut. The Palestinian Liberation Organisation's chief, Yasser Arafat, in Damascus, cabled several leaders, appealing for their help to end the killings and to pressure the United States, France : and Italy to intervene.
Italy asked France and America to join it in reconstituting the multinational peace-keeping- force the three nations had formed to "ensure the safety of the population in the Lebanese capital.” The multinational force supervised the withdrawal of P.L.O. guerrillas from Beirut, and then left Lebanon.
