Jordan arms? The Reagan Administra : tion has nearly completed a proposal to sell advanced missiles and fighter planes to Jordan, the “New York Times" reports. It quoted Administration officials as saying the arms would probably include the mobile Hawk anti-aircraft missiles' Jordan's King Hussein has 'been seeking, rather than the less-powerful Stinger missiles offered in May. The Belgian police have tightened security in Jewish areas of the country after a gunman wounded four worshippers outside a synagogue in central Brussels at the week-end. The man had leapt out from behind a car and fired two machine-gun bursts at a handful of people about to enter the synagogue for Jewish New Year celebrations, eyewitnesses said. He then fled down a narrow side street, eluding the police, and. disappeared in the direction of a bustling week-end market. — Brussels. Dockers withdraw The Painters and Dockers' union has voluntarily withdrawn its affiliation with the Australian Labour Party. The Opposition Leader,. Mr Bill Hayden, announced the move yesterday and said the voluntary disaffiliation would be effective immediately.. The union's announcement offsets a special A.L.P. national executive meeting called for today to effect the disaffiliation. Mr Hayden made it clear during his announcement, the union would not be welcomed back into A.L.P. ranks until it had “cleaned itself up".—Canberra.

Trial for Poles Switzerland will definitely not extradite the four gunmen who occupied the Polish Embassy for three days last week, and was to try them in a Swiss court, the Justice Ministry has said. After Swiss police stormed the embassy and freed staff last Thursday, the Polish Government said it would ask for the extradition of the men. all Polish-born. A ministry spokesman said that an extradition request had not yet been received, but if and when it came, Switzerland would definitely not comply.—Berne.
