PA Auckland ' The former Davis Cup player. Brian Fairlie. and his protege. Ron Dutton, narrowly failed to vindicate their No. 1 seeding in the men’s doubles at the Auckland open tennis championships at Stanley Street yesterday. In a thrilling three-set final thev went down 4-6. 6-2. 4-6. to Mark Lewis and Greg Hansford. It looked as if the No. 2 seeds would overwhelm Fairlie and Dutton, but a 2-6 reversal in the second set set the seal on a third set worthy of the match. Earlier Lewis had beaten Marty O'Donnell. 6-2. 6-1). in the men's singles final. O'Donnell had eliminated the No. 2 seed. Glen Ryder, in the second round, but he was no match for Lewis. In the women's singles final Brenda Perry beat Julie Richardson. the No. 4 seed. 6-2. 6-2. Perry added the women's doubles title with Richardson as
