Turner’s quiet return
Glenn Turner slipped quietly back to New Zealand yesterday, but only for a week. One of Turner's last duties to perform for the Worcestershire County Cricket Club is a pleasant one — next Monday he leaves for Hong Kong on a trip that is part of the benefit activities of a club-mate. Ted Hemsley. Although an emergency operation for appendicitis
made an anti-climax of Turner’s final county season, he was prevailed upon to play the final John Player league match of Worcestershire's season, making 29 against the county champion. Middlesex. Turner said he. was properly fit by then, but his appearance came as a surprise to the Middlesex players: “They thought I was already back in New Zealand." he said.
