All going well, the Te Awamutu colt may then tackle the Wellington Guineas the following week. The father and son trainers. the Priscotts' train the son of Mussorgsky for two Auckland couples.*Bevin and Carmen Allen; and Graham and Laureen Allen, who bought the horse at a Wrightson Bloodstock Waikato yearling sale for $11,500.
A paddock accident shortly after he was broken in. which involved him severely cutting his off-front leg when sliding under a gate, has not prevented him from becoming a star colt and his value is hard to estimate. He did not race until May. and has now won all four starts by clear-cut margins including the Ryder Stakes at Levin.

Rider- Chris McNab however. got Red Tempo handy to the tearaway leaders. Beautiful Smidgen and Holproof. on the home turn, without covering too much extra ground, and Red Tempo had the race in safe keeping well before the finish. For good measure.
