Fears held for N.Z. export drive

PA Auckland The Auckland Manufacturers' Association has warned that reduction in Development Finance'Corporation lending might affect New Zealand's export drive. Mr John Whatnall. the association’s director, said the D.F.C. played an important role in export development.

“Mavbe the D.F.C. has extended’ a little wider than it should have but we would be concerned if its (new) lending policy means a cutback on development. “We would be concerned at any cutback in the industry sector, especially with the growing awareness of the need for export-oriented development and import replacement development."
