With a 10-wicket win over Worcestershire. Middlesex ended the English county cricket championship 39 points clear of Leicestershire which lost its game with Kent. Nottinghamshire, last year's champion team, beat Sussex and this win took it from eighth to fourth place. The points scored by the top teams were: Middlesex 325. Leicestershire 286. Hampshire 250.
