South Island electricity consumption will rise from 7423 million kilowatt/hours in 1981-82 to 11,286 million by 1986-87, according to the annual report of the electricity sector forecasting committee for 1982."
This report is one of two key reports - .the other is the electricity sector planning committee — which contributed to the 1982 Energy ’Plan just published by the Minister of Energy, Mr Birch.
North Island electricity consumption will rise from 13,611 million kilowatt/hours in 1981-82 to 17,759 million by 1986-87.
The report gives the year by year growth in consumption for each electric supply authority. These include: / Ashburton: 145 M in 1981-82, 152 M in 1982-83. 158 M in 1983-84, 164 M in, 1984-85, 169 M in 1985-86 and 175 M in
1986-87. ' Buller: 69M in 1981-82, 70M in 1982-83, 73M in 1983-84, 76M in 1984-85, 78M in 198586, and 80M in 1986-87. Central Canterbury: 354 M in 1981-82, 368 M in 1982-83, 394 M in 1983-84, 412 M in 1984- 425 M in 1985-86, and 437 M in 1986-87.
