Right name, wrong place
PA . Wellington Leaving his name at a police station has cost Richard Dick Waaka, a workman. $55 in the District Court at Wellington. Waaka. aged 18. admitted intentionally damaging a desk belonging to the police.' He was fined $5O by Judge Bathgate and ordered to pay $5 compensation.
Sergeant Wayne McKinnon said that at 1.40 p.m. on September 4 Waaka was at the Wellington Central Police Station and was left alone in an office. Using a 5c coin. Waaka scratched on a desk the words “Richard Waaka, 1982. Rotorua.” In explanation Waaka had said that he had nothing else to do and was- bored.
