Fitness track with milky flavour

An exercise course to be built in North Hagley Park will be known as the Big M fitness track after a product of its principal financial sponsor, the. Christchurch City Council’s works and recreation committee was told yesterday. Canterbury Dairy Farmers, Ltd, which produces the flavoured milk, will provide $2058 of the track's $2328 cost. Situated away from the park’s ring track will be 18 fitness stations with instruction signs. Each sign will display small Big M logos, together with Kiwanis logos since that club is helping with the installation of exercise stations. Donkeys Councillors recommended approval of an applicant’s plans to provide donkey rides for young children at New Brighton’s Thompson Park. On some days, the two donkeys, wearing straw hats with flowers attached, may also be taken along part of the foreshore. A trial period may be approved for week-ends and holidays between October 1 and March 31.
