Theatre action continues
PA Wellington Industrial activity in five of New Zealand's six community theatres would continue, said the president of Actors Equity. Mr John McDavitt, last evening. After a meeting of production workers' representatives, he said that ways of resolving the deadlock had been canvassed. Production workers include stage managers, lighting technicians, carpenters,
and wardrobe and properties staff. Mr McDavitt said that production workers had withdrawn their labour at Dunedin’s Fortune, Christchurch's Court, and Auckland's Theatre Corporate. The artistic director of the Court Theatre, Elric Hooper, said last evening that productions would continue as normal, the work of production workers being done by senior theatre management.
