Socred to unveil election strategy
PA Auckland The Social Credit Party will hold the first of a series of meetings to unveil the party’s “Breakthrough ’B4” election strategy next week. The party's president, Mr Stefan Lipa, said that the meetings would also begin the party's drive to raise $2 million to finance the 1984 campaign. The meetings, the first of which will be held in Auckland on Monday, will be social evenings. Selected party members and supporters will be invited to hear speeches by the party’s leader, Mr B. C. Beetham, his fellow member of Parliament. Mr G. T. Knapp, and Mr Lipa. “The purpose is to unveil
our Breakthrough 'B4 strategy which also includes our fundraising campaign,” said Mr Lipa. Later in the year similar meetings will be held in Waikato and Bay of Plenty towns. Early next year the party hopes to cover the South Island. Late in 1983, the party will concentrate its meetings in the central and southern part of the North Island. Asked if the party was not a little early in starting its election campaign, Mr Lipa said: “We have so far had two very successful threeyear election campaigns — in 1978 and 1981 — in which we boosted our support. We intend to do the same thing for this election."
