Getting in early
Canterbury has still to win the Ranfurly Shield, but already it has received a challenge. It has come from MidCanterbury and although no dates were mentioned in the letter which the Canterbury Rugby Union received at its meeting last evening, MidCanterbury is apparently looking towards next season. Needless to say, the letter also wished Canterbury the best of luck for its bid to take the shield from Wellington on September 18. “We will look at it again after the 18th,” said the chairman, Mr B. J. Drake, when he was asked if there should be a reply.
