Use of crossing
Sir,—ln reply to Mesdames A. Cook, L. Scanes and G. Everts, I would agree that some form of safety measure is required on the Main North Road at the Daniels Road shopping area. However, as for somebody getting killed before action is taken, I would like to point out that I was responsible for organising the petition that saw the present crossing installed. It was hard work all the way, and was because three children from Dunedin Street had been killed on that road (at different times, of , course). If not for that crossing ' I am sure there would have . been more fatalities and not just to children. But with the increased traffic flow, perhaps , now is the time to install lights to control both pedestrians and motorists alike—Yours, etc., GARY F. PRIEST. September 4, 1982.
