Private sector’s importance
Sir—lt is good to see that at least one politician has his head screwed on “right” (pun intended): Mr J. A. Banks (Nat., t Whangarei). Speaking during the Budget debate, he was strongly advocating a necessary cut in government spending to help controlinflation. To anyone who truly'understands inflation and its causes this was a. most welcome statement. He goes on to emphasise the importance of the private sector for without this sector, jobs, productivity and progress would not be possible. It is time the average Kiwi, stopped knocking his employer and started being a little more thankful for his job that someone else has worked hard to provide him with—Yours, etc., J. B. STEVENS.
