Skinny women needed
PA Wellington Rarotonga’s search for skinny men to play prisoners of war in a film being shot there has been unsuccessful and the film-makers now want skinny women. Already, 100 underfed New Zealanders have been enlisted for the film. "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence." which is based on Sir Lawrence van der Post’s book. “The Seed and the Sower." which tells of conditions in a prisoner-of-war camp in Java during the Second World War. The "Cook Island News" reported that thin women are now sought to make up the numbers. "They’ll be dressed in baggy clothing and won't be recongnised as women because of the distance from the camera." a spokesman for the filmmakers told the paper. The British rock singer. David Bowie, appears in the film.
